New Copa America Centenario trophy to be unveiled Thursday in Colombia | INSIDER

A special trophy for the historic Copa America Centenario will be unveiled Thursday in Bogota, Colombia; the tournament has announced.


CONMEBOL commissioned the unique trophy in honor of the competition which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The winner of the 2016 edition of the tournament will receive the commemorative trophy as well as the original hardware which has been touring the U.S. in the lead up to the event.


The new trophy took a total 89 days to design and then another 98 days to assemble. It includes a metal base covered with 24k gold, stands 24 inches tall, and weighs 15.65 pounds.


The Copa America runs from June 3 to 26 across the United States.
