LA Galaxy History Â
The LA Galaxy launched in 1996 with the start of Major League Soccer, two years after the first FIFA World Cup in the United States. The club’s original crest evoked the swirling patterns of a galaxy in the colors green, gold, and black, but in 2007 the Galaxy rebranded to blue, white, and gold and adopted a new shield-shaped crest. Â
The LA Galaxy have won six (6) MLS Cup championships, two more than any other MLS club, winning our most recent in 2024. The club has also won four Supporters’ Shields (most points at the end of the regular season), two U.S. Open Cups (an annual tournament for soccer teams in the United States), and one Concacaf Champions Cup (an annual regional tournament for the champions of leagues within North America, Central America and the Caribbean). Â
The club plays in Carson, CA at Dignity Health Sports Park after starting in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl in 1996. Our current stadium, opened in 2003, was one of America's first soccer-specific stadiums.Â
Legendary players have been instrumental in making the LA Galaxy a globally recognized club. The likes of Cobi Jones, Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Robbie Keane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Marco Reus have all proudly worn the Galaxy crest. Â
