CARSON, Calif. – Long considered one of the finest midfielders of his generation, Steven Gerrard has enjoyed an illustrious 17-year career with Liverpool and the England national team, and soon he will begin a new chapter as a member of the LA Galaxy.
Gerrard completed his deal on Wednesday that will see him leave Liverpool FC and join the Galaxy in July. Prior to heading to Major League Soccer, Gerrard will complete one final season with the only club that he has ever played for.
A Liverpool player since the age of eight, Gerrard has shined with the Merseyside club en route to becoming a true club icon and one of the team’s true greats. The journey has been a long one that has included breathtaking goals like his dramatic stunner against Olympiakos in 2005 or his blinding rocket against West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup Final. All the while, whether it was leading his team to an unforgettable UEFA Champions League victory in 2005 or in preseason matches, Gerrard carried himself the type of dignity that led supporters to chant his name in triumph.
