Galaxy II

Post Game Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy II earn first win of the season | March 25, 2017

LA GALAXY II HEAD COACH MIKE MUÑOZ
On the match:

“I’m very proud of the guys. I thought that there were very good moments where we stuck to the game plan. Vancouver is a very good team, so there were moments when we had to deal with them coming at us and them attacking. We had to defend a little more than we would have liked. It was key that we got to halftime 1-0 because I thought that the game was teetering a little bit in their advantage. We were able to regroup and I thought we did a good job of eliminating [Vancouver’s] Debyi Flores, who was the key guy in the first half. And obviously we scored a key goal in a good moment for us. And I think once we got that second goal, it started to relax us and we settled down a little bit and we were able to see it out.”

On how it was to coach his former Academy players in a professional game:

“Credit to the organization just for providing this opportunity to the staff and to the players. Credit to the Academy staff and all the hard work they’ve done. Credit to Curt and his staff for providing this platform for us. I’m not worried about our Academy kids stepping in and performing. I know they can do it.”

On what the team will be working on ahead of next weekend’s road match against San Antonio FC:

“I think we’re going to stay consistent with what we’ve been doing. Those areas we haven’t perfected yet; we’ll look at the tape. Now it becomes a little bit more real because we can watch San Antonio and prep for them next week. But overall, I’m pleased.”

LA GALAXY II FORWARD ETHAN ZUBAK
On the starting the season with a win and a goal:

“I feel great about the goal and honestly, first game of the season, coming out fresh, it was good to put the ball in the back of the net. It kind of gives me confidence for the rest of the season. As far as the team, it couldn’t have started better. And to get a win like this and to get the shutout, it was really good for the team.”

On LA Galaxy II’s new members and the six that played in the team’s home opener:

“I just liked the fact that they’re ready to work hard and contribute to the team. It’s not about individuals for them, it’s about contributing to the team and getting the team to the next level. They push each other in training and in the game.”
