Galaxy II

Postgame Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy II 3, Portland Timbers 2 2

LA GALAXY II HEAD COACH MIKE MUÑOZ

On the game:
“I was extremely disappointed in the first half. I thought we came out slow. I thought we let them dictate from the start and set the tone. I don’t think we got in behind until the 25th minute. I had to have a go at the guys at halftime to let them know to pick it up. Obviously a much, much better response in the second half. Yes, the red card helped. But we picked it up and we dictated the game and I thought we deserved three points at the end of the day.”

On the debut of Efrain Alvarez:
“Efrain has worked very hard the last month and a half to get where he needs to be from a fitness and physical standpoint. Credit to the kid for buckling down and working hard. He’s a player who is capable of making a difference. He’s a player who added an instant spark to the group, whether it’s through his possession or passing ability. When you come in and get an assist as a 15-year-old it changes the game for us.”

On the largest crowd in LA Galaxy II history:
“Fantastic atmosphere tonight. I’m really proud of the supporters and the club. I know it’s been a tough season in terms of the organization, but our players, staff and organization has never given up and we’re going to continue to progress and it’s important for these players to play in front of crowds like this. It’s only going to prepare them for the first team one day.”

LA GALAXY II FORWARD EFRAIN ALVAREZ

On making his debut:
“It was super exciting to make my debut for this organization, for everything that they gave me. I’m proud to have given the 45 minutes that I could, and I’m proud we got the W at the end.

On how he made an impact in his first 45:
“I worked hard. The yellow card stopped me a little bit from defense, but I gave some balls that changed the game.”
