CARSON, Calif. – Sebastian Lletget has been itching for a chance to return to the field, and on Saturday, he was able to –albeit in a different capacity.
Lletget served as a member of the LA Galaxy’s photography crew during last weekend’s dramatic 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire. Still in a walking boot after surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, Lletget was able to snap photos on the StubHub Center sidelines.
“I had an amazing time. Everyone on the staff that helped me out, Jon, Rob, Steph, they were amazing, and it was great to be under their wing and experience the game in a different way,” Lletget told LAGalaxy.com. “It was just felt good to be out there, and I really want to be out there on the grass, and it was close as I could be to my teammates and to playing. It was a great experience to see the game behind the lens.”
The 24-year-old admitted that the experience changed his perspective of the game and gave him a little more understanding and appreciation of the work that goes into snapping the perfect photo.
"I see the game differently now. It definitely makes me think about how much I know my teammates and if anything I got more out of knowing my teammates," Lletget said. "Shooting is completely different than playing, but I know their habits and their tendencies, so it made it easier for me to anticipate what they were going to do. It was just so fun. I want to do it again.
“People think these movements are simple but to get them in focus is really hard. To capture that is on another level which I have to give credit to the photographers because the things they do is remarkable.”
