Sebastian Lletget ready to begin long recovery from injury | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. –  Sebastian Lletget’s trademark smile was on display when he visited the LA Galaxy’s training session on Tuesday, even if he was on the sidelines.

The 24-year-old midfielder took in Galaxy training on Tuesday ahead of his surgery to repair his Lisfranc injury in his left foot which will be held a day later. Lletget suffered the injury with the U.S. National Team during last month’s match against Honduras only minutes after scoring his first goal for the USMNT.

Dealing with the injury has been difficult for the typically cheery Lletget, but the midfielder is ready to begin the healing process.

"It’s bad luck, but it’s part of the game. It took me a couple of days to really process everything, but I feel better now. I’m looking forward to getting to the rehab stage and getting the surgery done," Lletget said. "I’m looking forward to the positives. As soon as the surgery is done, the healing process begins, and I’m looking forward to that. It’s going to take time to get to the rehab, but it’ll be a learning process for sure.”

Facing a lengthy layoff in the prime of his career, Lletget has already begun to steel himself mentally to prepare for the long wait till his return. Despite all the difficulties, the affable midfielder is upbeat that he’ll be back as soon as he can.

“The first couple of days were so hard. I thought to myself, ‘did that even really happen?’ It’s a lot to go through, but like anything, you go around and ask some of the older guys about this, and they’ve dealt with setbacks in their career too. They’ve come back stronger, and I’ve listened to them, so I’m going to take their advice. My family and friends have been there for me, and the club has been so supportive. I appreciate everyone.”
