Sebastian Lletget staying optimistic through long rehab process | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Sebastian Lletget is still months away from returning to the field, but the LA Galaxy midfielder is keeping his cheerful attitude as he continues his long recovery.

Lletget remains out until late August-early Fall after undergoing surgery to repair a Lisfranc fracture in his left foot suffered while with the U.S. National Team in March. The surgery left Lletget in a walking boot –and using a scooter – until at least next month.

The midfielder has also taken part in a daily rehab that has him in the training room receiving treatment at 2 pm, long after the rest of his teammates have gone for the day. Although being separated from his teammates has been tough, it has allowed Lletget the necessary time to cope with his injury.

“The medical staff do want me to get away from the guys in a way so that there are no distractions because I do require a lot of attention with this injury. I always come in when the guys are already gone so I have some time to myself.

“When I’m looking back in my career, I believe that this is something that will have made me stronger.”

As for his timeline to return, Lletget is taking a cautious yet optimistic approach.

“We have to be precautious with this injury and not rush it back as much as I really want to,” Lletget said. “The best advice that I’ve got is not to come back any sooner than the doctors and trainers say.

“I don’t feel too bad. At first, it was devastating, but honestly, I’m learning a lot. For anyone that does get injured, at first, it feels like the end of the world, but there is something greater on the other side.”
