- 2022 MLS Cup MVP John McCarthy makes his second consecutive start in goal for the LA Galaxy in tonight’s match against San Jose. McCarthy, who made four saves in a 1-1 draw against Inter Miami CF on Feb. 25, posted four shutouts in eight matches played during LAFC’s run to the 2022-23 Concacaf Champions League Final, earning Golden Glove honors and being named to the Concacaf Champions League Best XI.
- Japanese International defender Miki Yamane starts at right back for the LA Galaxy against the Earthquakes. Yamane, who started and hit the post in his debut for the Galaxy in Sunday’s Home Opener against Miami, was named to the J1 League Best XI in three consecutive seasons (2020, 2021, 2022), and helped Kawasaki Frontale earn two J1 League titles (2021, 2020), two Emperor’s Cup titles (2020, 2023) and one Japanese Super Cup (2021).
- Japanese International defender Maya Yoshida captains the Galaxy in tonight’s match. Yoshida tallied one goal and one assist in 12 appearances (12 starts) for the Galaxy in league play last year.
- Starting alongside Yoshida is Uruguayan National Team legend Martín Cáceres, who started and played 90 minutes in his return from injury in the 1-1 draw against Inter Miami CF on Feb. 25.
- Argentine youth international defender Julián Aude gets the start at left back. Aude notched one goal in 27 appearances (18 starts) across all competitions for the Galaxy during the 2023 season.
- In his 100th career MLS regular season appearance in tonight’s match against San Jose, Edwin Cerrillo gets the start as the holding midfielder for LA. In his last appearance against San Jose at PayPal Park on Aug. 30, 2023, Cerrillo started and registered an assist in a 3-2 road win for the Galaxy.
- Mark Delgado makes his second start of the season in tonight’s match against the Earthquakes. Delgado tallied two assists in LA’s 3-2 win over the Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium on Sept. 24, 2022. Delgado has tallied 21 goals and 32 assists in 278 career MLS regular-season appearances (242 starts).
- 2023 MLS All-Star Riqui Puig gets the start in midfield for LA. In three matches played against San Jose last season, Puig tallied one goal and one assist. Puig finished the 2023 campaign ranked first amongst all players in MLS in touches (2,752) and successful passes entering the final third (640), second in dribbles completed (92) and passes completed (1,892) and sixth in chances created from open play (55).
- Ghanaian International winger Joseph Paintsil, who took a team-high seven shots (2 shots on target), recorded three successful dribbles and earned a game-high six fouls won in his Galaxy debut against Miami on Feb. 25, gets his second start of the 2024 campaign. The Accra, Ghana, native totaled 32 goal contributions (18 goals, 14 assists) in 39 matches played across all competitions for Genk during the 2022-23 campaign.
- Diego Fagundez, who has tallied 69 goals and 71 assists in 359 career regular-season appearances (269 starts) across 13 seasons played in MLS (2011-Present), gets the start on the left wing for LA. Fagundez is one goal away from becoming the 10th player in MLS history to record at least 70 goals and 70 assists in regular-season play.
- Serbian International forward* Dejan Joveljić,* who scored his first goal of the 2024 campaign in the 1-1 draw against Inter Miami CF on Feb. 25, gets the start up to for LA. In six career regular-season matches played (3 starts) against San Jose, Dejan Joveljić has tallied four goals. In 90 games played (38 starts) across all competitions in three seasons with the Galaxy (2021-23), Joveljić has tallied 34 goal contributions (24 goals, 10 assists).
