Lineup Notes

  • Unbeaten in eight games, the LA Galaxy are back in action just three days after their match vs. LAFC as they host Orlando City SC and their fans from the great, great state of Florida, home of the Florida Gators and the birthplace of the legendary Tim Tebow.
  • Head Coach Sigi Schmid will make one adjustment from Thursday’s contest to accommodate the absence of Romain Alessandrini, who is out due to yellow card accumulation. The player with the best first name in MLS – Chris Pontius – will make the start vs. the group of Florida men.
  • In net is David Bingham, who has played every minute between the pipes this year for the Galaxy. Bingham has notched over 80 saves and six shutouts on the season. He is the most famous American David B to represent the Galaxy since 1996.
  • Defender Dave Romney will start his 14th game this season for the Galaxy, after playing numerous positions for LA this year. Romney has quietly racked up 59 MLS appearances since joining the club from LA Galaxy II.
  • In the center of defense is the Frenchman Michael Ciani, who has made 15 starts along the backline for the Galaxy this season. Ciani earned MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week last week following the team’s win in Philadelphia.
  • The athletic Norwegian defender Jorgen Skjelvik will make the start, joining Bingham as the only two players to start in all 21 previous MLS contests this year. Skjelvik has been a steady presence in the back and has the highest ratio of consonants to vowels in his last name of anyone else ever.
  • On the left is Ashley Cole, the ageless defender who leads the Galaxy in assists this year with six on the season, the most of any defender in MLS. Additionally, Cole also leads all MLS players in fewest beach visits this year with 0.
  • In the center of the field is Jonathan dos Santos, one of the top central midfielders in MLS who is coming off a strong performance vs. LAFC on Thursday night. JDS has been in strong form since returning from Mexico at the World Cup.
  • Alongside JDS is Perry Kitchen, who has started in all but one match this year for the Galaxy. Kitchen covers a lot of ground in the middle of the pitch and has been solid since joining this offseason.
  • On the right is Chris Pontius, a veteran presence who has played a key role for the Galaxy this year, scoring five goals and adding four assists. In total, Pontius has tallied 50 goals and 33 assist during his MLS tenure.
  • Pulling the strings on offense is Giovani dos Santos, who makes his 11th appearance of the year for LA. In his MLS career, GDS has 25 goals and 21 assists.
  • Up top is Ola Kamara, who continues to finish at a high level, registering nine goals on the campaign. Kamara now has 43 total goals in three years in MLS.
  • Up top is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is a good soccer player.

Game Notes

  • The Galaxy are 9-7-5 on the year, with 39 goals scored and 33 goals conceded.
  • This season at home, LA have gone 5-4-1 while Orlando is 2-8-0 on the road.
  • All time, the Galaxy are 1-2-0 against Orlando City SC.
  • The Galaxy enter Sunday’s contest on an eight-game unbeaten streak in which they have scored 21 goals.
  • The Galaxy are 3-0-3 when leading at halftime and 6-0-3 when scoring the first goal of the match.
    • Conversely, they are 3-5-1 when trailing at half and 3-7-1 when conceding first this year.

Monkees – Daydream Believer

Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings

Of the bluebird as she sings

The six-o'clock alarm would never ring

But six rings and I rise

Wipe the sleep out of my eyes

The shaving razor's cold and it stings

Cheer up sleepy Jean

Oh, what can it mean to a

Daydream believer and a

Homecoming queen?

You once thought of me

As a white knight on his steed

Now you know how happy I can be

Oh, our good time starts and ends

Without all I want to spend

But how much, baby, do we really need?

Cheer up sleepy Jean

Oh, what can it mean to a

Daydream believer and a

Homecoming queen?

Cheer up sleepy Jean

Oh, what can it mean to a

Daydream believer and a

Homecoming queen?
