Three Points: After a wild first half, LA Galaxy pick up a 2-2 draw on the road to the New England Revolution

FOXBROUGH, Mass. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Points to the team’s 2-2 draw with the New England Revolution.  The Galaxy end the month of May with a 2-2-3 record.

MAGANTO SHOW HELPS THE LA GALAXY EARN A POINT IN NEW ENGLAND

Ignacio Maganto notched a goal and an assist as he helped the LA Galaxy extend their unbeaten run to three games with a 2-2 draw with the New England Revolution.

Maganto scored the first goal of his MLS career in the 18th minute with an absolute laser that blew past Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttlesworth. The 23-year-old Spanish midfielder struck again in the 27th minute when he fed Jose Villarreal who dished it to Gyasi Zardes for the Galaxy’s second goal.

Due to the Galaxy’s rash of injuries and expected international call-ups, look for Bruce Arena to lean on the young Spaniard during a hectic month of June.

ZARDES RETURNS TO THE SCORE SHEET AHEAD OF USMNT DUTY

Gyasi Zardes has needed a goal, and on Sunday, he finally found the back of the net during the first half of the LA Galaxy’s draw at Foxborough.

Zardes found the back of the net in the 27th minute when a clever back heel from Jose Villarreal through the legs of Jose Gonçalves put Zardes into space. With plenty of time and space behind the Revolution defense, Zardes slid an easy finish past Bobby Shuttlesworth for the goal.  The goal was Zardes’ third of the 2015 campaign.

One question that remains for Zardes is whether his scoring form will translate to the international level as the Galaxy striker will join the U.S. National Team for friendlies against Netherlands and Germany in June. If he can enjoy a successful stint with the USMNT, it’ll only boost his confidence for the summer matches.

INJURIES ABOUND FOR THE LA GALAXY

The LA Galaxy have been the walking wounded throughout the 2015 campaign, and injury curse took another turn for the worse on Sunday.

Jose Villarreal was the first to go down with a left shoulder sprain in the 28th minute after falling hard to the turf in the opening minutes. In the second half, Dan picked up a leg injury on the unforgiving Foxbrough surface and was forced to exit at the 65th minute.  First-half substitute Alan Gordon suffered an apparent knee injury of his own that resulted in him being substituted for Edson Buddle in the 69th minute.

With the injuries, we’re likely going to see Bruce Arena use his 16th different lineup when the Galaxy return to StubHub Center next Saturday to host Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
