Three Points: Kekuta Manneh goal ends the LA Galaxy’s home unbeaten streak

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Points to the club’s 1-0 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC.  Kekuta Manneh scored the only goal of the match to snap the Galaxy’s three-game unbeaten streak.

MANNEH GIVES VANCOUVER THEIR FIRST-EVER WIN AT STUBHUB CENTER

A misfiring LA Galaxy attack meant Kekuta Manneh’s goal in the 32nd minute was all Vancouver Whitecaps FC needed to give LA their first loss at StubHub Center since last March.

After an even start by both sides, Manneh gave the Whitecaps into the lead with a 32nd minute blast that went through two defenders and beat Brian Rowe at the neat post. Across 90 minutes, the Galaxy failed to register a shot on goal.

The victory is the Whitecaps’ first at StubHub Center in seven tries. Prior to Saturday, LA had gone 6-0-0 while scoring 13 goals and allowing just one. By virtue of their victory, Vancouver will win the season series with the Galaxy with two victories.

LA GALAXY HOME STREAK ENDS AT 29

The LA Galaxy’s 29-game unbeaten streak at StubHub Center was snapped on Saturday with their 1-0 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

LA’s defeat was their first at StubHub Center since their 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake on March 9, 2014—the opening game of the 2014 season. LA had gone a total of 454 days in between defeats at home.

The Galaxy’s home unbeaten streak ends as the longest in club history and the third-longest in Major League Soccer history.

ROBBIE KEANE GOES 90

LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane made his first start since April 4, going 90 minutes in the team’s 1-0 defeat.

After being hindered for weeks by a groin strain, the Irishman looked relatively sharp in his return to the starting lineup as he frequently dropped into midfield, and even made an impressive recovery that sparked a Galaxy counter late. Keane’s finest attempt of the evening came in the 57th minute when the forward plucked the ball out of the air, and delivered a shot that sailed just wide of the Vancouver net.

The Galaxy captain will now join up with the Republic of Ireland for their UEFA Euro 2016 Qualifying match against rivals Scotland on June 13 in Dublin.
