Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 1-0 loss to Toronto FC

TORONTO – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the Galaxy’s 1-0 defeat to Toronto FC. Los Angeles is now 1-3-3 away from StubHub Center.

DEFENSIVE ERROR COSTS THE LA GALAXY YET AGAIN

Once again a single mistake was the difference between a draw and a loss for the LA Galaxy.

Los Angeles did well to blank reigning Toronto FC Sebastian Giovinco, who was a relative nonfactor for wide stretches of the match. Unfortunately for the Galaxy, their backline broke down in the 76th minute when Drew Moor capitalized on poor positioning by two defenders to head home Toronto’s game-winning goal.

With defensive miscues like Saturday’s plaguing the Galaxy dating all the way back to their defeat to Colorado in March, Los Angeles must cut down on the costly second-half errors if they’re to make a push up the standings.

OFFENSE FAILS TO CREATE MUCH OFFENSE IN TORONTO DEFEAT

The LA Galaxy attack fell flat for a third straight match in their 1-0 loss to Toronto FC on Saturday.

Bruce Arena’s side struggled to create many chances against Toronto FC across the 90 minutes. Los Angeles’ best opportunity came in the 20th minute when Sebastian Lletget slipped past the TFC defense only to see his shot sail well wide of the Toronto net. Aside from Lletget’s chance, the Galaxy attack, which was without the likes of Giovani dos Santos, Gyasi Zardes and Robbie Keane, failed to really test Toronto ‘keeper Clint Irwin.

The Galaxy have not scored in a league match since May 28 and they will need much more from their attack on Wednesday when they face the Western Conference’s top side, the Colorado Rapids.

BRIAN ROWE IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH YET AGAIN.

Brian Rowe once again put the Galaxy on the verge of a result with an impressive performance.

Rowe made four saves in the match including a brilliant stop on a Sebastian Giovinco breakaway in the first half. Rowe’s positioning was excellent throughout the match as he was able to consistently cut down the angles on TFC’s dangerous attackers.

Despite the stellar play of the Galaxy’s attackers this season, Rowe has undoubtedly solidified his position as the team’s unsung hero with performances like Saturday’s match.
