Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 2-0 win over the Montreal Impact

CARSON, Calif. –  LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the LA Galaxy’s 2-0 victory over the Montreal Impact.

ROMAIN ALESSANDRINI STARS ONCE AGAIN FOR THE GALAXY

Romain Alessandrini has been worth every penny for the LA Galaxy.

The French winger scored his third goal of the season in the 15th minute to put the Galaxy up to stay against Montreal. Alessandrini now has three goals and two assists so far in his fledgling MLS career and has played a part in five of the team’s six goals this season.

You can bet that Galaxy boss Curt Onalfo is hoping that Alessandrini is still getting his feet wet in the USA and that even better days are ahead.

GYASI ZARDES GETS AN ASSIST IN HIS FIRST START SINCE LAST AUGUST

Gyasi Zardes returned to the LA Galaxy starting lineup for the first time in seven months and looked sharp in the team’s victory over the Montreal Impact

Zardes went 82 minutes in the match starting alongside Giovani dos Santos up top for the Galaxy, in his first start since a series of injuries sidelined the forward. The Hawthorne native notched an assist on Jermaine Jones’ brilliant 40-yard run finish and showed flashes of his old self with several dangerous runs that troubled Montreal’s defense.

Zardes’ return to the lineup is a huge boost for a team that has been ravaged by injuries to start the season.

ALL SMILES AS THE LA GALAXY BAG FIRST HOME WIN

The LA Galaxy got a must-needed first win at StubHub Center in Friday’s sublime performance over the Montreal Impact.

For the first time this season, head coach Curt Onalfo was free to start a first-choice lineup aside from the injured Sebastian Lletget and Robbie Rogers. His group responded with aplomb in a dominant showing to not only give the Galaxy their second win of the season but also their first shutout of 2017.

After a disappointing defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps a week ago, Friday’s victory will have Curt Onalfo’s in good spirits ahead of next week’s trip to Orlando City SC.
