Chase was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, and began his United States Coast Guard career more than 13 years ago. His service has spanned maritime law enforcement, specialized tactical operations, explosive detection, force protection, and federal criminal investigations. In 2025, he was selected as a Special Agent with the Coast Guard Investigative Service in Los Angeles.
Previously, Chase served at Maritime Security Response Team West in San Diego, where he became an Explosive Detection Canine Handler and Team Leader partnered with K9 Buda, a German Shorthaired Pointer. During six years together, Chase and Buda completed more than 185 operational explosive-detection sweeps and engagements nationwide, supporting missions including Super Bowl 56, LA Fleet Week, critical infrastructure protection, and bomb-threat responses.
In 2023, Buda was named American Humane’s Military Hero Dog. Buda retired in February 2026 and now lives with Chase and his family, while Chase continues serving Southern California as a Coast Guard Investigate Special Agent.
