Jim served as a Yeoman 3rd Class aboard Liberty ship, transporting fuel, ammunition, and bombs throughout the South Pacific to support American forces during World War II. He served during both the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, carrying vital supplies into some of the war’s most dangerous combat zones.
After his military service, Jim continued his commitment to others, serving as a California State Lifeguard for more than 35 years, protecting and saving lives along our coast.
This September 14th, Jim will celebrate an incredible milestone—his 100th birthday.
They are often called “The Greatest Generation,” but to many of us, they are truly Men of Legend—individuals whose courage, sacrifice, and dedication helped shape the world we know today.
