USMNT drawn into Group of Death; Mexico to face Luis Suarez's Uruguay at Copa America Centenario | INSIDER

The United States and Mexico received two very different paths to the knockout stages at the 2016 Copa America Centenario draw in New York on Sunday. 


The U.S. were drawn into the Group of Death with Colombia, Costa Rica and Paraguay chosen as the Americans' Group A rivals. The Americans open the tournament on June 3 against tournament favorite Colombia at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara before taking on taking on Costa Rica at Chicago's Soldier Field four days later. The USMNT close the group stage on June 11 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia against Paraguay. 


Compared to the Americans, Giovani dos Santos' Mexico side earned a very favorable draw in Group C. El Tri were placed alongside Uruguay, Jamaica, and Venezuela. Mexico begins the group stage on June 5 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. against Luis Suarez and Uruguay.  El Tri will then host Jamaica at the Rose Bowl on June 9 before taking on Venezuela on June 13 at  NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas in their final group stage match.
