Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the brink of MLS history as he approaches greatest single-season goalscoring stretch

LOS ANGELES – Zlatan Ibrahimović is on the brink of Major League Soccer history.

After 31 games in MLS, Ibrahimović is on track to set the fastest goalscoring pace of any player at the start of their career in the league. Presently, the sensational Swede has 28 goals in 31 matches—which is tied for sixth-most of any player in the first 34 games of their league career.

Ibrahimović has three games to surpass Mamadou Diallo’s mark of 32 goals in his first 34 games in 2000-01.

“We’re doing good, I know we can do more. We work hard. Individually I feel very good. I feel comfortable, safe with what I’m doing,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic said when asked about his comfort level in MLS earlier this week. “And I want to do more. I have a lot of will, a lot of hunger to achieve my objectives. I work hard for it and I’m not satisfied with what I have done so far. I want more.”
