HOW ACQUIRED: The Galaxy signed David Bingham on Jan. 10, 2018 after acquiring his rights from San Jose Earthquakes on Dec. 18, 2017 in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM)
Bingham signed with MLS as a Generation adidas player following the 2011 MLS SuperDraft before landing in San Jose after a weighted lottery on Jan. 26, 2011. He spent a brief period on loan with Norwegian side Strømmen IF in 2014 before earning a starting position with the Earthquakes in 2015. In two consecutive seasons, Bingham started all 34 games in net for San Jose, finishing both years among the league’s best in various categories. In 2015, he broke Pat Onstad’s club record with 12 shutouts in a single-season and earned MLS All-Star honors in 2016.
Internationally, Bingham has earned three caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team, making his debut in a 1-0 shutout victory over Canada on Feb. 6, 2016 at StubHub Center. He also made appearances in friendly contests against New Zealand and Jamaica.
