CARSON, Calif. (Friday, June 15, 2012) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the rebranded LA Galaxy Foundation will be launched on Saturday, June 23 when the club hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC at The Home Depot Center. The charitable arm of the club, the Foundation is active in giving back to the local community through a series of endeavors such as the annual Reading Garden Challenge, Foundations’ Feast, Holiday Assist program and the Camps for Kids program. As part of the rebranding, the Foundation will unveil a new logo and an updated website, which can be found at www.lagalaxyfoundation.com.

The LA Galaxy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to helping children through educational, health and soccer based initiatives and programs. Since its inception in 1999, the Foundation has supported organizations and activities dedicated to encouraging, educating and empowering children in the community. AEG Sports Chief Operating Officer Chris McGowan and Galaxy Vice President Chris Klein each sit on the Foundation’s Board of Directors along with Galaxy legend Cobi Jones and current Galaxy captain Landon Donovan and other representatives.

To celebrate the Foundation’s new look, the club is auctioning off a series of special experiences with proceeds benefitting the Foundation. Fans can bid on the opportunity to be an honorary Ball Kid for the day, to assist the stadium’s public address announcer Mike Araujo in announcing the starting lineups for the game against Vancouver, co-host the club’s pregame on field entertainment along with host Jay Flats or go behind the scenes of the club’s pregame radio show on KTLK 1150 AM with Joe Tutino.

Before the game, the Foundation will host its annual Equipment Sale in the Northwest corner of the tennis stadium concourse. They will also be selling commemorative autographed t-shirts from the Galaxy Foundation booth at SoccerFest. The t-shirts each cost $40 (limit two per person) and are signed by a current Galaxy player, though fans won’t know whose autograph they are getting until they open up their shirt. Ten of the shirts will contain no signatures, but will be signed personally after the game by Galaxy captain Landon Donovan.
