CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, July 29, 2014) – LA Galaxy II (11-5-4, 37 points) will travel to face the Harrisburg City Islanders (5-8-6, 21 points) Wednesday, July 30 in Week 20 of USL PRO action at the Skyline Sports Complex, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. PT.
The match marks the first and only time that Los Dos will face off against the Pennsylvania-based City Islanders in USL PRO play.
Led by head coach Bill Becher, the City Islanders are currently in 11th place in USL PRO standings and enter the match vs. Galaxy II following a narrow 2-1 loss on the road to the Richmond Kickers July 26. Richmond went up, 2-1 in the first half on goals from Luke Vercollone and Sascha Gorres before Matt Bahner grabbed one back in the second half for Harrisburg, but the City Islanders were unable to find the equalizer.
LA Galaxy II will look to build on a three-game winning streak after a dominating 4-0 victory over Orange County Blues FC Saturday that saw a brace from Chandler Hoffman and goals from Andre Auras and Dragan Stojkov. Fresh off of his first MLS appearance and assist, LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Bradford Jamieson IV logged his first USL PRO assist on Stojkov’s goal. Jaime Villarreal, the first-ever LA Galaxy Academy product to sign for Galaxy II, made his first Los Dos appearance since signing with the club.
Following the match against Oklahoma City, Curt Onalfo’s side will remain in Pennsylvania, traveling to take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Saturday, August 2 at 4 p.m. PT in their final road match of four consecutive away games.
