The greatest soccer player to ever suit up for the United States has tied the knot.
Retired LA Galaxy and U.S. National Team legend Landon Donovan was married on Sunday to his longtime girlfriend Hannah Bartell in a low key ceremony along the San Diego waterfront. Donovan announced the marriage via his social media accounts late Monday evening.
“I’ve never been happier,” Donovan said in a tweet that revealed a picture of him and his new wife with their arms raised. “Hope you all had a great weekend.”
The ceremony was a quaint affair but did feature several of Donovan’s former Galaxy teammates including defenders Omar Gonzalez and Todd Dunivant as well as goalkeeper Brian Rowe.
Donovan’s marriage caps off what has been a remarkable retirement for the 32-year-old American soccer legend. Since hanging up his boots after the LA Galaxy’s 2014 MLS Cup triumph, not has all-time MLS and USMNT scoring king gotten married and traveled the globe, but he has also begun the process to complete his college degree.
On behalf of LAGalaxy.com, we wish Landon and Hannah all the success and luck in the future. Congratulations.
