Former LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo expresses "regret" over MLS departure | INSIDER

Jaime Penedo

Former LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo remains without a team more than two months after leaving the club, and in his first press conference since his departure expressed some regret about his abrupt departure from the club.

Since leaving the Galaxy, Penedo has remained without a club despite being linked to teams from across the globe. Despite not playing since the CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal against Mexico, the 34-year-old was called into Panama's squad for a friendly with Mexico next Tuesday.

As he prepared to play in his first game in more than two months, Penedo addressed questions about his exit from the Galaxy.

"You make decisions and have to be responsible but what's done is done. I would like to be playing right now. Maybe I regret leaving [the Galaxy] a little bit," Penedo told reporters on Tuesday.  "I made the decision to leave the Galaxy for a guaranteed contract. I wanted a two-year contract. I saw it as attainable. I am worried. My departure from the Galaxy was abrupt.  Money was talked about a lot of times, but it was not a factor."
