Giovani dos Santos confident in the LA Galaxy's chances in CCL second leg against Santos Laguna | INSIDER

Giovani dos Santos

Giovani dos Santos appeared to be a marked man against Santos Laguna, but that suited the LA Galaxy striker just fine in the club's scoreless draw in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals first leg between the two sides.

The 26-year-old striker was active throughout in his first competitive match against opposition from his homeland, creating a pair of dangerous chances that he was unlucky not to finish. Dos Santos' contributions on the offensive side of the ball came amid constant onslaught by Santos defenders who seemed content to do whatever possible to get underneath the skin of the Mexican forward.

The striker also provided an impact on the opposite side of the ball making a clearance off the line late in the second half.

"Everyone played well today, and we're happy with the result," Dos Santos said after the scoreless draw.

Dos Santos is one of three Galaxy players on yellow card accumulation watch heading into next Tuesday's second leg in Mexico. None of this appears to faze the Mexican striker, however, as Dos Santos is eager to do what he can to help Los Angeles win in Torreón.

"It was a good game for us. We played really well," he said. "We showed all the people that we did a great job in the preseason, and we're very excited for the second leg."
