Match Preview: LA Galaxy open U.S. Open Cup campaign against Orange County SC

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy will begin their pursuit of a third U.S. Open Cup title on Wednesday when they host Orange County SC at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

Los Angeles’ fourth-round contest will kick off the Galaxy’s participation in the 104th edition of the competition. The USL side advanced to the third round after earning a 1-0 victory over semi-pro squad LA Wolves FC.

“We know that we’re playing against a team that that is going to put everything on the line,” head coach Curt Onalfo said. “It’s a huge game for them and us. We’re confident that we’re going to do what we need to do to get the three points.”

The Galaxy’s preparations for the Open Cup will be complicated with a clash against the Houston Dynamo just three days later. With an eye to Houston on Saturday, Onalfo admits that the Galaxy will rotate their squad ahead of their league contest.

“You have to have a vision and have things planned. We look at all those things,” Onalfo said. “Regardless of whoever we put on the field, we believe that we’re going to win the game.”
