Jermaine Jones ready to go after toe injury says LA Galaxy must "see every game as a final" | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Jermaine Jones is another step closer to returning to the starting lineup ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Colorado Rapids.

Jones returned to the game day roster last Sunday after missing the team’s match with Columbus Crew SC due to a large gash between his left big toe suffered two weeks prior. The injury, which Jones published in all its graphic detail on his Instagram, required stitches that kept the hard-nosed 35-year-old defensive midfielder on the shelf until late last week.

After making progress last weekend, Jones is ready to go against Colorado.

“I’m good, and I’m feeling better and better. The first couple of sessions were a little bit rough, but it’s getting better and better,” Jones told LA Galaxy Insider. “I still have two stitches inside, and they wanted to take them off on Saturday before the game. The doctors gave me the green light, and I’m ready to go.

“That’s up to the coach [whether I start], I always say that I want to play and I want to try to help the team. The coach makes the decision, but I think it’s important especially now against Colorado at home that we get the win.”

With the Galaxy desperate to keep their playoff hopes alive and avoid falling into last place in the Western Conference, Jones says his team must learn to fight regardless of how their season ends.

“Everything plays right now against us, but at the end of the day, what can you do? I said on my social media that there is still the light and if you don’t see the light, then you have to find it and do everything. We have supporters that come to the games and pay tickets. They want to see us battle and fight, and I think that’s the main thing you can do, and hope that you can get some points out of it.

“Every game is a final. That’s how you have to see it. I don’t want to talk about playoffs, the light is still there, but it’s so small," he said. "Right now, we have to look game by game and see every game as a final. If we at the end, get to the playoffs, we’ll be happy, but for now to talk about the playoffs is far away.”
