Lineup notes

  • The Galaxy will play their third-straight road contest Wednesday night when they face the Houston Dynamo on the road at BBVA Compass Stadium.
  • Head Coach Sigi Schmid, the winningest coach in MLS history, will coach his 11th contest since taking over as head coach. He will make three changes to the starting XI from Sunday’s match as Hugo Arellano, Rafael Garcia and Jermaine Jones start in place of Michael Ciani, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Boateng.
  • In net, the young Frenchman Clement Diop will make his second-straight start, the 12th of the season for Diop. He previously spent years with Galaxy II as one of the best goalkeepers in USL before signing for the first team.
  • At right back, Sigi Schmid Gyasi Zardes will continue in defense as the Hawthorne native will make his second-straight start on the backline. With just four games remaining with a depleted roster, Schmid will rely on Zardes on the back line.
  • In the center of defense, Dave Romney will again occupy a central spot along the defensive unit. Romney has been one of the Galaxy’s most important defenders in 2017, filling in whatever position needed and playing well.
  • In the center of defense, fellow Academy and Galaxy II product Hugo Arellano will make the start, the fourth of his MLS career. Arellano is young, but has shown promise and is being looked at as a player who can contribute for the future.
  • On the left side of the defense, Ashley Cole will again feature during what will be his 25th start of the season. Cole has once again been among the best for any left back in MLS and continued to lead the Galaxy despite his age.
  • Locking down the center of the field, Jermaine Jones returns to action after serving a one-game suspension during the team’s match vs. Kansas City.
  • Alongside Jones in the center of the field is Rafael Garcia, who showed well for himself after entering Sunday’s match in place of an injured Joao Pedro. Garcia has been solid and filled in various places throughout the year.
  • On the right side of the attack is Galaxy Homegrown Player Bradford Jamieson IV, who makes his eighth start of the season. Jamieson is one of the most talented young players on the Galaxy roster and will have another chance to showcase that Wednesday.
  • Pushing up higher up the field from the central position is Jonathan dos Santos, who has been a standout player in midfield since joining the Galaxy last month.
  • On the left side is the French Romain Alessandrini, who has been among the best newcomers in Major League Soccer this season. He leads the Galaxy in both goals and assists with 10 each on the season.
  • Up top, Giovani dos Santos will again lead the Galaxy’s frontline as he looks to find his groove with a goal. In his MLS career, he has notched 23 goals and 18 assists.
