Voting is now open for the 2017 Goal of the Year competition presented by AARP

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy kicked out their 2017 Goal of the Year competition presented by AARP on Thursday.

A total of 11 goals have been nominated for the contest from Galaxy, Galaxy II, LA Galaxy Academy, and the LA Galaxy Special Olympics Unified Team. Robbie Rogers’ goal against the Philadelphia Union earned the award last year.

The Goal of the Year vote begins today and will run until January 1, 2018, with the winner announced a day later.

The following goals have been nominated:

  • Giovani dos Santos vs. Minnesota United on May 21
  • Efrain Alvarez vs. Estudiantes La Plata on May 2 
  • Dave Romney vs. Real Salt Lake on March 18
  • Romain Alessandrini vs. Sporting KC on Sept. 24
  • Ema Boateng vs. Portland Timbers on August 6
  • Romain Alessandrini vs. Orlando City SC on April 15
  • Jonathan dos Santos vs. Minnesota United on Oct 15
  • Giovani dos Santos vs. San Jose Earthquakes on May 27
  • Ethan Zubak vs. Sacramento Republic on Sept. 16
  • Logan Jones vs. San Jose Earthquakes Unified team on August 27
  • Ashley Cole vs. Real Salt Lake on July 4
