LA Galaxy select Tomas Hilliard-Arce with the 2nd pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft

The LA Galaxy have selected Stanford defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce with the second pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.


Hilliard-Arce, 22, joins the LA Galaxy after four years at Stanford, where he led the team to three straight NCAA National Championships in his final three seasons with the school. He was named First Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in each of his last two years with Stanford and was a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist in his senior season. In 87 career appearances for Stanford, he scored 13 goals and added five assists.

In his last two successful College Cup campaigns, he was named to the 2016 College Cup All-Tournament Team and was named the 2017 College Cup Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Hilliard-Arce was signed by MLS ahead of the SuperDraft. Hilliard-Arce is LA Galaxy’s first selection in the 2018 SuperDraft. The Galaxy also hold the 40th, 48th and 92nd picks in the draft.
