LA Galaxy II announced today that the club will host two separate open tryouts in England this summer, marking the club’s second-consecutive year in England after hosting successful tryouts there for the first time ever in 2017. LA Galaxy II return during the summer of 2018 in an effort to expand their recruiting pool and discover players for the 2018 USL season and beyond. Tryouts will be held in London at The Hive on May 30-31, and again in Manchester at University of Manchester Armitage Sports Centre on June 2-3.
LA Galaxy II Open Tryouts offer participants the chance to become a professional soccer player by signing a contract with Los Dos, who compete in the United Soccer League (USL). LA Galaxy II technical staff will be on hand to observe participants during the showcase. Last year, 10 individuals were selected to be flown to Los Angeles to train during LA Galaxy II’s 2018 preseason training.
"After hosting extremely successful tryouts in England last year, we are excited to return in order to evaluate and identify talents," said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz. "We are hopeful to find more young and talented players who can join our club through LA Galaxy II and work their way to our first team. This will give us even more chances to scout multiple players that may not have other opportunities to be discovered.”
Concluding the events, a select number players will be flown to Los Angeles to train at the StubHub Center for a further week of in-depth trials, looking to earn a professional contract. All expenses associated with the trip will be covered by LA Galaxy including airfare, room and board, and training kit (boots excluded).
Full details for LA Galaxy II Open Tryouts are as follows:
- Participants must be male and 18 - 25 years old.
- The tryout will consist of each participant playing in two (2) 60-minute, 11v11 soccer matches to impress the LA Galaxy II scouting staff. One game per day of the tryout event.
- The registration fee for one (1) open tryout event is $185.
- In addition to the registration fee of $185, participants are responsible for all airfare, incurred travel costs, food and transportation to that specific event. Also note that LA Galaxy II will not help with Visas or letters of invitation.
- Players must come prepared for the tryouts with their own boots, socks, shorts, gloves, shin pads or any other equipment related to their position.
- LA Galaxy II will provide two (2) numbered t-shirts to wear during your games. You will wear your own black socks/shorts with the navy shirt and your own white socks/shorts with the white shirt.
- Teams will be constructed randomly according to players' preferred positions.
- Your kickoff times will be emailed to you one week prior to the start of the open tryout event.
- No refunds will be issued for any reason.
