Lineup notes

Week two. The LA Galaxy embark on their first road contest of the young season in a match against the Eastern Conference New York
Yankees
 City FC.

  • LA Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid will trot out a lineup that features just one change from last weekend as Sebastian Lletget starts in place of Romain Alessandrini, who is out with a hamstring injury.

  • In net, goalkeeper David Bingham makes his second-straight start to the 2018 campaign after his debut last weekend. Before joining the Galaxy, the 2016 MLS All-Star selection recorded 27 shutouts and 288 saves in 95 starts while earning a 1.24 goals-against average (GAA) with San Jose.

  • Out wide on the right side of the defense is Rolf Feltscher, a Venezuelan national team member and fluent speaker of six languages. Feltscher is in line to command the right back position this year after joining the club in the offseason.

  • In the center of defense, the talented Frenchman Michael Ciani continues in the backline after a full offseason with the club. Ciani had previously spent a career in Europe and is poised to lock down a starting spot this season.

  • Norwegian defender Jorgen Skjelvik partners with Ciani in the middle of the defense. The Galaxy’s first offseason acquision, Jorgen is a pacey central defender.

  • On the left, the ageless Ashley Cole will enter Sunday’s match again captaining the side in his third season in Los Angeles with the Galaxy. He is showing no signs of slowing down despite his age.

  • In the center of the field, Perry Kitchen will help dictate play from his holding midfield position. He can boss a midfield and will help neutralize the NYCFC attack on Sunday.

  • Alongside Kitchen is Mexican midfielder Jonathan dos Santos, who is in the prime of his career and – in a World Cup Year for Mexico – will look to bring forth his best early this season.

  • Out wide on the left, Emmanuel Boateng continues in the midfield after a strong opener in which he caused Portland multiple headaches and offered absolutely no Advil. Boateng will be the fastest player on the field Sunday.

  • In the center of defense, Giovani dos Santos continues as the club’s #10 and will look to pull the strings on offense. GDS has 23 goals and 20 assists during his one and a half seasons with the club.

  • On the right side of the midfield is Sebastian Lletget, who makes his first MLS start in nearly a year after recovering from a broken foot sufferend early last season. Lletget made his first competitive appearance last weekend and is in line for even more minutes following additional injuries.

  • Up top, Ola Kamara will lead the attack after a goal in his opening LA Galaxy contest. Before joining the Galaxy, Kamara had tallied 34 goals in two season with Columbus and picked up things right where he left off last weekend, scoring LA’s first goal of the year.

  • Notes: Romani Alessandrini, Chris Pontius, Joao Pedro and Bradford Jamieson will miss Sunday’s contest due to injury.
