Sigi Schmid confirms Giovani dos Santos out one to three weeks due to hamstring injury

Giovani dos Santos

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy will be without Giovani dos Santos for at least a week according to head coach Sigi Schmid.

The Galaxy boss confirmed on Wednesday that dos Santos will miss at least one to three weeks with right hamstring tightness suffered during the team’s 2-1 defeat to New York City FC last weekend. The injury occurred in the first half, forcing Schmid to remove the Mexican international at the half.

“It’s somewhere in between one and three weeks. We just have to see,” Schmid said. “He wants to get back out there and play. We just have to do the best that we can do in terms of getting him ready. He injured himself in the game at about the 25th minute and tried to play through it.

"It shows his character that he wanted to try to contribute, but we said at halftime that it was better to take him out. It rules him out for Mexico at this stage, but hopefully, we’ll get him back in time for the LAFC game.”
