LA Galaxy II sign forward Frank Lopez

Frank Lopez signing

LA Galaxy II have signed forward Frank Lopez, the club announced today. Lopez, from Cienfuegos, Cuba, signs his first professional soccer contract with Los Dos.

“Frank is an explosive forward who really impressed us during the preseason,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz. “He is hungry to compete and score goals. He makes very dynamic runs in behind to hurt defenders and we feel he can add real depth to our young attacking group.”

Lopez, 23, was a member of FC Cienfuegos’ (Cuba) academy, before joining Miami Soccer Academy of the United Premier Soccer League. Internationally, Lopez has featured extensively at the U-15, U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels for the Cuban National Team.

With one week remaining until the season opener, Lopez joins midfielder Geoffrey Acheampong, defender Nate Shultz, defender John Requejo, goalkeeper Wade Hamilton, midfielder Emmanuel Appiah, and midfielder Julian Büscher as the club’s newest signings. Lopez and LA Galaxy II will kick off the 2018 season Saturday, March 17 against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, Colo. (5 p.m. PT, streamed live on LAGalaxy.com/2).
