Match Report: LA Galaxy II secure win at home against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

LA Galaxy II (8-13-6, 30 points) earned a 3-1 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Saturday night at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium behind a brace from forward Ariel Lassiter and a goal from defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce. The result gives Los Dos eight wins and 30 points on the year during the USL Regular Season.

Switchbacks FC opened the scoring Saturday night when forward Mason Toye scored in the 11th minute of play before LA Galaxy II answered back with a pair of goals in quick succession. Rookie defender Hilliard-Arce, the second overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, scored with a header in the 27th minute off of a lofted ball from Geoffrey Acheampong. Minutes later, forward Ariel Lassiter added a second off of a rebounded shot in the 18 yard box.

Los Dos kept the score 2-1 going into the half as Lassiter’s goal proved to be the winner. Early in the second half, Lassiter sealed the game with the third of the night as he tallied a brace in the 56th minute. Midfielder Efrain Alvarez slipped a ball past the defense as Lassiter found himself in on goal and slotted it home to make the score 3-1.

LA Galaxy II held Colorado Springs at bay for the remainder of the match as the home side earned the full three points on the night.

Next up, LA Galaxy II will face Las Vegas Lights FC at 8 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Nevada.
