LA Galaxy to host Read Across America celebration at Dignity Health Sports Park on Thursday, Feb. 28

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019) – The LA Galaxy, alongside Dignity Health Sports Park ASCSC Community Foundation, AEG, Los Angeles Chargers and MLS WORKS will host the third annual Read Across America Celebration at Dignity Health Sports Park this Thursday, February 28th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. PT, as players and staff read to over 225 second and third graders from Towne Ave. Elementary School and Leapwood Ave. Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America Day, a nation-wide celebration of children’s author Dr. Seuss.


Among those scheduled to read Dr. Seuss books to numerous classes from the local Carson elementary schools include: LA Galaxy midfielder Perry Kitchen, defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce, goalkeeper Matt Lampson, alumni Kevin Hartman, President Chris Klein, assistant coach Dominic Kinnear, Dignity Health Sports Park General Manager Katie Pandolfo, Galaxy II players, Cozmo and the Galaxy Star Squad, in addition to Chargers linebacker Nick Dzubnar, linebacker Jatavis Brown and alumni Antoine Cason and youth ambassador Bolt.  Staff from the LA Galaxy, Dignity Health Sports Park, NFL Network and Kinecta Federal Credit Union will volunteer alongside the players throughout the event.

All participants will take part in a soccer clinic, be provided lunch by Levy Restaurants and take home their own books provided by MLS WORKS. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.


LA Galaxy’s Read Across America Celebration will take place days before the LA Galaxy’s 2019 MLS opening match. The LA Galaxy will kick off the 2019 MLS Season on Saturday, March 2 at Dignity Health Sports Park when they host Chicago Fire at 5 p.m. PT live on FS1.
