Match Report: LA Galaxy II fall 2-0 on the road to San Antonio FC

SAvLA Match Report 4.13

LA Galaxy II (3-3-0, 9points) fell 2-0 on the road against San Antonio FC (2-3-1, 7 points) on Saturday.

LA Galaxy II went down early in the match after a quick break away by San Antonio FC. Ever Guzman pulled a shot directed at goal, but a Los Dos defender got in the way. Bradford Jamieson IV, on loan from LA Galaxy, was at the right place, at the right time and found the back of the net for San Antonio FC in the 14th minute.

The home team got one more before halftime in the 35thminute. Another fast counterattack resulted in a chance from San Antonio that forced LA Galaxy II’s goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg from his box. Contact in the box between Brian Gomez and Vom Steeg created an open net, which San Antonio’s leading goal-scorer Ever Guzman took advantage of, giving his side a two-goal lead heading into halftime.

To start the second half, LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz made two attacking substitutions to get fresh legs onto the pitch, bringing on Frank Lopez and Augustine Williams. However, they were unable to light a spark for Los Dos. San Antonio’s defense continued to stifle the Galaxy’s strong attacking side throughout the second half, preventing Los Dos from getting any scoring chances.

Next up, LA Galaxy II return home to host Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium on Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT. Tickets to the match are available here.
