Guillermo Barros Schelotto says LA Galaxy hope to have Jonathan dos Santos back for Colorado Rapids match

LOS ANGELES – Guillermo Barros Schelotto expects the LA Galaxy to have Jonathan dos Santos available once again next Sunday when Los Angeles host Colorado Rapids.

Dos Santos was sorely missed on Saturday afternoon when the Galaxy dropped their third straight loss and their first at Dignity Health Sports Park, falling 2-0 to New York City FC. With the Mexican international out due to a left hamstring injury, the Galaxy were forced to change up their playing style, which resulted in few opportunities against NYCFC.

Postgame, Schelotto revealed that dos Santos tried to give it a go to be available, but ultimately, it was decided that he would wait until Colorado to make his return.

“it was better not to take a risk to put him on the field,” Schelotto said. “We were talking, and I said to him maybe it’s better not to play today and play next Sunday, because maybe you play today, you start, and you have to go out and you’ll be out for how many games. We play Sunday, Friday, and Wednesday, so I think he’s very important, you can realize that today.

“We just didn’t put him on the field today because he felt something and he is recovering in the next two or three days to be ready Wednesday to start training for the game with Colorado.”
