Match Report: LA Galaxy II vs. OKC Energy FC | Sept. 28, 2019

LA Galaxy II (11-9-10, 43 points) won 5-1 against OKC Energy FC (10-12-8, 38 points) on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Track & Field Stadium.

An early mistake by Los would make it seem as if it was going to be a long night for the home team, but the LA Galaxy II’s character would define the night. Deshorn Brown was the one to put OKC up 1-0 in the 7th minute, but that’s all OKC would get on the night. After that, Los Dos would cruise to their biggest win of the season.

The first goal for Los Dos came in the 24th minute outside the 18-yard box from Kai Koreniuk. Off of a pass from Justin Fiddes, Kai Koreniuk was left in a good position to take on the OKC defense. A skillful cut to the right left the OKC defense standing still, and what came next was a powerful strike that would find the top right corner of the goal. Nearthe end of the first half, skillful play from Jorge Hernandez and Mohammed Kamara ended with an Ethan Zubak goal inside the penalty box in the 40th minute.

Los Dos kept the pressure on full throttle in the second half. Taking on the OKC defense and running down the middle with space, Ethan Zubak put another shot past the goalkeeper to get his second goal of the night in the 73rd minute.

Augustine Williams entered the match for Ethan Zubak in the 76th  minute. After OKC had trouble clearing the ball from their penalty box, Williams was the one to find an easy tap-in goal to extend Los Dos’ lead to three. Los Dos continued to take advantage and wear down OKC, capped off in the 83rd minute, when Jorge Hernandez found Jose Hernandez inside the 18-yard box for one last goal, wrapping up their biggest win of the season 5-1.
