LA Galaxy II fell to Reno 1868 FC 4-1 Saturday night in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs at Greater Nevada Field. With the result, LA Galaxy II have been eliminated from USL Championship Playoffs.


The result marked the end of the 2020 season for Los Dos, who finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points during the 2020 season (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road) to earn second place in Group B standings and their second-consecutive postseason berth.


After the hosts took a 1-0 lead, Los Dos responded in the 10th minute as they were awarded a free kick on the left that Mauricio Cuevas delivered perfectly to the top of the six-yard area for Jalen Neal to head home.


Reno added another before the half and two in second half play to take the 4-1 lead. Galaxy II almost pulled a goal back with 25 minutes to go as Cuevas curled a free kick from 20 yards toward the top-right corner of the net but was denied by a save from Reno goalkeeper Ben Beaury. With 14 minutes to go, the visitors were reduced to 10 men as Adam Saldana was sent off and Reno saw out the game to advance to the next round of the USL Championship Playoffs.


In the revised USL 2020 schedule, the league's clubs played 263 games over 13 weeks to decide with 16 teams advanced to the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs, which began this weekend. LA Galaxy II competed in the USL Championship Group B for the revised 2020 campaign alongside the following clubs: San Diego Loyal, Phoenix Rising FC, Las Vegas Lights FC and Orange County SC. 


Forward Augustine Williams notched 13 goals to lead LA Galaxy II this year, the second most of any player in USL Championship.
