Chris Klein on Zlatan: "He's succeeded everywhere and takes the same approach as he comes here."

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy President Chris Klein says that new signing Zlatan Ibrahimović is ready to get down to business to help the league’s premier club return to the summit. The Galaxy signed the Swedish soccer legend on Friday through Targeted Allocation Money.

Ibrahimović brings a storied resume to Los Angeles, having won 33 trophies and scoring more than 400 goals during his 19-year professional career in Europe.

Given Ibrahimović’s many accomplishments across Europe, the Galaxy president is optimistic that his experience and talent will translate into victories.

“The hope is that he can perform for us on the field, and that has to be a starting point for us. Certainly, every time you speak to him, it is all about succeeding and performing,” Klein said. “Beyond that, he’s a big personality and he has the feel of a Galaxy player. We’re enthusiastic to introduce him to our team and our fans. We think it’s going to be exciting.”

From Jorge Campos to Romain Alessandrini, world-class players have been a part of the Galaxy’s makeup since the team’s inception. However, Klein says that there is something special about the way that Ibrahimović is approaching his American adventure.

“I’ve been really impressed by his awareness and his intense focus on performance. In meeting with him, I don’t want to say that the public persona isn’t true, but there is a certain humility. He knows that his success comes down to hard work and professionalism. You can understand why he’s had such a successful career at such a high level.

"He’s succeeded everywhere and takes the same approach as he comes here. He wants to do well for himself. He wants to do well for his teammates. He wants to do well for the club.”
