Cristian Pavón believes first goal for the LA Galaxy is the start of something big

LOS ANGELES – Cristian Pavón finally got on the mark with his first tally for the LA Galaxy in their thrilling 3-3 draw with LAFC last Sunday.

Pavón scored a goal and assisted on another in the Galaxy’s draw at Banc of California last week. For the Argentine forward who has impressed in his three matches to date, the goal was the perfect capper to what has been a remarkable start with his new side.

“It was very nice. I really enjoyed it. I tried to demonstrate what I know, and luckily, I was able to score, which is what I was looking forward to,” Pavón said. “It was very nice, and even more so during a Clásico which you live differently. Scoring in a Clásico was a great feeling and made me very happy.”

In just three games, Pavón has been right at home in Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s system, fitting in perfectly on the left flank. In his new role, Pavón has developed a burgeoning partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimović and Favio Alvarez that has helped the Galaxy attack score five goals in the last two matches.

“With Zlatan, you all know we always try to find each other, and do a give and go play, or try to do whatever is best for the team. With Favio, I've known him since we were young, and the truth is every game that passes, we understand each other more.”

As the trio’s partnership grows, Ibrahimović believes that there are great things in store for the three players now that Pavón has bagged his first goal.

“We were doing good; we’re having fun when we play. [Cristian] Pavón... he’s in the picture now from the last two to three weeks, and I said he’s a quality player, and when you play with quality players, it’s easier to play," Ibrahimović said.
