LA Galaxy defender Rolf Feltscher called up to Venezuelan National Team for 2019 Copa América

LOS ANGELES (Friday, May 31, 2019) – LA Galaxy defender Rolf Feltscher has been named to the 23-man roster for the Venezuelan National Team participating in CONMEBOL’s 2019 Copa América in Brazil.


Feltscher and the Venezuelan National Team will kick off their participation in Copa América on Saturday, June 15 against Peru at 12 p.m. PT. Venezuela will also face Brazil on Tuesday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. PT and Bolivia on Saturday, June 22 at 12 p.m. PT as part of the tournament’s group stage.


Ahead of their participation in the 2019 edition of Copa América, Venezuela will play three exhibition matches in the United States against Ecuador on Saturday, June 1 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, against Mexico on Wednesday, June 5 at Mercedez Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and against the United States on Sunday, June 9 at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.


After making his debut with the national team in 2011 at the age of 21, Feltscher has made 20 appearances internationally, including CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup Qualifying action and Venezuela’s 2016 Copa America Centenario campaign.


Feltscher has made 26 starts and 26 appearances for the Galaxy since joining the club in 2018, scoring one goal and adding five assists during his career with the club. Feltscher signed with the LA Galaxy in December 2017 ahead of the 2018 MLS Regular Season and scored his first and only MLS goal to date against Toronto FC on Sept. 15, 2018. This season, Feltscher has played and started in 11 games for the LA Galaxy in 2019. 


Before joining the LA Galaxy, the defender made nearly 200 professional appearances for clubs throughout Europe, including competition in La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany) and the Championship (England). He joined the LA Galaxy from Cardiff City of the English Championship.
