LOS ANGELES (September 25, 2026) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has agreed to a contract extension with goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski through the 2028-29 season. Marcinkowski originally joined the Galaxy as a free agent in January 2025, after spending five seasons with the San Jose Earthquakes.
"JT has been a consummate professional and competitor since his arrival," said Will Kuntz, General Manager, LA Galaxy. "He has taken advantage of every opportunity he's received to earn his place and provides a steady, reliable veteran presence for the group. We are happy to ensure that JT will continue as an important part of the LA Galaxy moving forward."
Marcinkowski, 29, has earned 27 starts for the Blue, White, and Gold across all competitions through the 2026 campaign thus far. He has recorded a career-high 76.5% save rate and 91 saves in league play, and six clean sheets in all competitions during that span. On July 26, Marcinkowski was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance in the Galaxy’s 1-1 draw away from home against his first club in the 105th edition of the California Clásico, in which he saved a crucial late-game penalty kick to preserve a result for LA.
The Alamo, Calif. native began his professional career as a Homegrown for the San Jose Earthquakes in 2017. He made his professional debut the following season and went on to make 96 appearances (95 starts) for the Earthquakes in five seasons with the club. In 2021, Marcinkowski tallied five shutouts and a career-high 129 saves in 33 matches played (all starts) for the Quakes. He followed it up with 150 saves in 46 appearances over the next two seasons.
Internationally, Marcinkowski had earned multiple appearances for the United States National Team at various levels, including U-18, U-20, and U-23. He was a part of the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team that won the 2017 Concacaf U-20 Championship. He has also previously been called up for both a training camp and an international friendly against El Salvador on December 9, 2020.
