LA Galaxy Foundation host Wilshire Crest Elementary for Protect the Pitch field trip

Wilshire Crest Elementary Field Trip

On Thursday, Feb. 21, the LA Galaxy Foundation welcomed 50 students from Wilshire Crest Elementary School on a field trip to the newly renamed Dignity Health Sports Park. Kindergarten and 5th grade students with excellent attendance rates, grades and classroom participation attended the field trip as a reward.

Students started their field trip with a stadium tour where they visited the trophy case and took photos on the main field. The tour concluded with a stop at the Galaxy Garden where students learned about plants and visited the chicken coop.

Following the tour, students watched the LA Galaxy Boys' Academy U-19 train. After training, students made their way to the stadium for lunch in the American Express Stadium Club.

Rachel Black from Garden School Foundation, an organization that provides in-depth garden-based education to Title I schools such as Wilshire Crest Elementary, instructed the students on a quick and healthy, apple fennel salad recipe.

Students from Wilshire Crest Elementary School departed Dignity Health Sports Park with a new recipe and a LA Galaxy backpack. The LA Galaxy Foundation’s Protect the Pitch Initiative continues to provide an opportunity for students to visit Dignity Health Sports Park and learn about the Galaxy’s sustainability programs throughout the stadium.
