In continuation of the LA Galaxy’s “Protect the Pitch” initiative, the LA Galaxy Foundation hosted 40 students from Annalee Elementary school at Dignity Health Sports Park on Thursday, October 3rd.   The students took a stadium tour where they visited the press box, sat in an event suite and walked by the main pitch. In the Galaxy Garden, LA Galaxy Digital Media Manager and member of the LA Galaxy Gardening Club, Chris Hybl, helped students pot their own cilantro plants to bring home.  Before leaving the garden, several students picked green beans growing in the garden to include in that afternoon’s cooking class.

In cooking class, Garden School Foundation instructor, Rachel Black, taught the students how to make a corn and radish salad by using fresh ingredients such as green beans, jalapeno, corn, radish, and red onion.  The students learned knife etiquette and a new recipe to take home with them. All of the brave tasters received LA Galaxy swag before returning back to school.

The LA Galaxy Foundation’s Protect the Pitch Initiative continues to provide the opportunity for students to visit Dignity Health Sports Park and learn more about how the LA Galaxy positively impacts the environment.
