LA Galaxy host Protect the Pitch Field Trip with Leapwood Avenue Elementary School

Protect the Pitch Field trip 5.9

On Thursday, May 9, the LA Galaxy welcomed Leapwood Avenue Elementary School to Dignity Health Sports Park for a Protect the Pitch field trip. Upon arrival to the stadium, students were greeted with LA Galaxy scarves before taking a stadium tour. Students enjoyed taking pictures with the LA Galaxy's MLS Cup trophies, in the press box and in the players’ gym. The stadium tour concluded at the LA Galaxy Garden where Chris Hybl, Communications & Digital Specialist and Gardening Enthusiast, took the students through the garden and fed the chickens. Students were shown how to plant basil and corn in a pot that they could take home.

After visiting the garden, the students headed up to participate in a cooking class with Garden School Foundation's instructor, Rachel Black. Excited to try a new recipe, the students made a delicious fava bean salad for lunch. Leapwood Avenue Elementary School students left Dignity Health Sports Park with a healthy new recipe and LA Galaxy swag.

The LA Galaxy Foundation’s Protect the Pitch Initiative continues to provide an opportunity for students to visit Dignity Health Sports Park and learn about the Galaxy’s sustainability programs throughout the stadium.
