LA Galaxy to host Read Across America Day at StubHub Center on Thursday, March 2

The LA Galaxy, alongside LA Chargers, StubHub Center and First Break Academy, will host Read Across America Day at StubHub Center this Thursday, March 2 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. PT, as players and staff read to over 400 second and third grade student from 186th Street Elementary School and Leapwood Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America Day, a nationwide celebration of children’s author Dr. Seuss.
LA Galaxy players Jelle Van Damme, Brian Rowe, Baggio Husidic, Jose Villarreal, Dave Romney and Jack McBean, in addition to Chargers center Max Tuerk, safety Dwight Lowery, linebacker Kyle Emanuel, linebacker Denzel Perryman ATP World Tour Professionals’ Sam Groth, Bradley Klahn and Women’s Tennis Association legend and ESPN broadcaster Pam Shriver, as well as staff from the LA Galaxy, StubHub Center and First Break Academy will read Dr. Seuss books to numerous classes from the local Los Angeles elementary schools.
All participants will be provided lunch by Levy Restaurants, receive cobranded shirts to wear on event day and take home their own books provided by MLS Works. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. Read Across America also provides NEA members, parents, caregivers, and children the resources and activities they need to keep reading on the calendar 365 days a year.
LA Galaxy’s Read Across America Day will take place days before the LA Galaxy’s 2017 MLS opening match. The LA Galaxy will kick off the 2017 MLS Season on Saturday, March 4 at StubHub Center when they host FC Dallas at 1 p.m. PT live on Univision.
