LOS ANGELES (August 8, 2026) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has agreed to transfer midfielder Edwin Cerrillo to Liga MX side Club América in exchange for an undisclosed transfer fee.

We are grateful for everything he has given to the Galaxy and wish Edwin the best as he begins this next chapter.”
Cerrillo, 25, played in 117 matches (104 starts) for the LA Galaxy across all competitions since joining the club from FC Dallas in August 2023. The 2024 MLS Cup Champion led the Galaxy in both games started (43) and minutes played (3,602) during the 2025 campaign, missing only two matches due to yellow card accumulation. Cerrillo has registered one goal and five assists for the Galaxy overall.
Prior to arriving in LA, the FC Dallas Academy product tallied four assists in 96 appearances (67 starts) across all competitions in five seasons with his hometown club after becoming the 24th Homegrown Player signing in FC Dallas history on February 14, 2019. Notably, Cerrillo also helped FC Dallas’ MLS NEXT Pro affiliate North Texas SC win both the 2019 USL League One championship and the regular season league title. On the international stage, Cerrillo previously earned U.S. Youth National Team call-ups at both the U-20 and U-23 levels and competed at the 2019 FIFA U-290 World Cup in Poland.
