LOS ANGELES (Monday, July 31, 2017) – LA Galaxy (6-10-5, 23 points) pack their bags for Portland this week, facing Portland Timbers FC (8-8-7, 31 points) at 1 p.m. PT on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Providence Park (ESPN, ESPN Deportes).
2017 MLS Regular Season: LA Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers FC
New head coach Sigi Schmid helped the Galaxy snap a five-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Seattle Sounders FC over the weekend, capping an announcement heavy week for the Galaxy.
In a second straight weekend on ESPN, LA will take on Portland for the second time of the season. In their first 2017 meeting, the Galaxy fell 1-0 to Timbers FC at StubHub Center.
LA leads the MLS with five road wins this season and in Portland, they’ve gone unbeaten in their last three visits. Last time in PDX, LA won 2-1 behind goals from Robbie Keane and Sebastian Lletget. This match is a chance for LA to gain ground on Portland and the rest of the Western Conference: the Galaxy sit 9th in the standings, seven points off a playoff spot and eight points off 4th-place Timbers FC.
