Two members of the LA Galaxy Girls’ Academy have been called up to serve their national team, marking the first call-up for any Girls’ Academy athletes since the team’s founding earlier this year.

Briana Hernandez and Nathalie Martinez of the LA Galaxy Girls’ Academy have been tabbed by the El Salvador Youth National Team to play in the team’s upcoming tournament: Clasificatoria Centroamericana Feminina Sub-17 in Panama.

Hernandez, a 15-year-old midfielder, has played in every match she’s been available so far this season. Martinez, a 14-year-old goalkeeper, has earned three starts in the season’s early going. Both joined the Girls’ Academy early this year, as part of the club’s inaugural season.

The LA Galaxy Girls’ Academy returns to action this weekend, facing Beach Futbol Club on Saturday, Oct. 28 at StubHub Center.
